LONG BEACH, CALIF. (APRIL 18, 2022) — Residents and businesses can get involved and provide input at upcoming budget workshops hosted by the Long Beach Board of Water Commissioners.
At a series of four public workshops, the Board will discuss the proposed Fiscal Year 2023 budget, which covers the 12 months from October 2022 through September 2023.
The meetings will be held on the following dates:
- May 12
- May 26
- June 9
- June 23
All meetings are held on Thursdays at 9 a.m. at Long Beach Water’s Administration Building, 1800 E. Wardlow Road.
Budget workshops will include in-depth discussions about proposed improvements to the water and sewer systems, including pipeline replacements and water quality enhancements.
The Board is also set to discuss strategies to increase local water supply, cost reduction efforts and any potential impacts on future water and sewer rates.
Members of the public are encouraged to attend the meetings and share input. Comments can also be sent via email to the Board to watercommission@lbwater.org.
“These workshops provide an opportunity for community members to directly address the Board and participate in shaping the future of Long Beach Water,” Board President Bob Shannon said. “The opinions expressed matter to us and are given serious consideration.”
The Board is expected to adopt the final budget and rates at the June 23 meeting.
