Fire Hydrant Installation
WHAT TO SUBMIT:
-
A request sent to water-servicecounter@lbwater.org. The request may include new public fire hydrant installation or relocation of an existing fire hydrant.
-
A copy of the approved plan showing the location of the new or relocated fire hydrant by Long Beach Fire Department (LBFD).
-
Long Beach Fire Department | Fire Prevention Bureau - Second floor Permit Counter at Long Beach City Hall, 411 W Ocean Blvd. (562) 570-5237
For schools, colleges, and universities, submit a copy of your plans approved by the Division of State Architect (DSA). Additional coordination with LBFD will be needed, since LBFD has jurisdiction over approved location of public fire hydrants.
DEPOSIT REQUIREMENT:
Prepare an initial check for $15,000 payable to Long Beach Utilities Department (LBUD) to cover charges for drawing preparation, administrative work, and construction. Final total charges will be based on actual costs incurred. The unused amount will be refunded, or additional charges will be billed to you.
LEAD TIME & OTHER INFORMATION:
-
The typical processing and installation time for the fire hydrant is approximately 16-20 weeks from payment.
-
LBUD will prepare a design drawing for the proposed fire hydrant installation or relocation based on the LBFD or DSA-approved plans. Prior to design drawing approval, you will be required to sign off on the drawing for the shown location of the fire hydrant.
